I am proud to share my journey as a survivor of congestive heart failure. I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2016, but a life-changing device gave me a second chance.
I am now a participant in the I Am My Sisters Keeper program, I'm committed to my healing and empowerment. But I need your help. Your donation will cover essential expenses like holistic wellness services, program activities, and personal needs, so I can focus on my transformation without added stress.
Please support me and my journey in the program by making a donation today. Your kindness will help me while on my travel towards healing and empowerment. Thank you!

A Cancer Survivor’s Journey
As a typical teenage girl, I was eagerly preparing to start my freshman year of high school. During summer break, I woke up one morning to find two large lumps on the right side of my neck. Concerned, I showed my mom, and the next day, she took me to my pediatrician. The doctor quickly referred us to Palmetto Richland Children's Hospital, where I was admitted for further testing. Among various tests, a biopsy of the lumps was performed. A day or so later, we received the devastating news: the results were malignant—positive for cancer.
I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which had already spread to four areas in my body which was my neck, chest ,lungs,& Pelvic . On July 3, 2002, at the age of 13, my world changed forever. I knew little about cancer, other than its potential to be fatal. I spent three weeks in the hospital, starting my chemotherapy treatments. I was discharged just three days before my 14th birthday.
The reality of my illness hit me one morning when I ran my hands through my hair, and it began to fall out in big chunks. Devastated, I burst into tears and sought comfort in my mom's arms. At that age, hair is a significant part of a teenage girl's identity. School started the next month, but I was homeschooled. I missed my entire freshman year, the chance to see my friends, and all the typical teenage experiences. Over the next few months, I underwent nine rounds of chemotherapy and four months of radiation therapy.
I completed my treatments and went into remission. However, in 2011, at the age of 22, I relapsed. On January 24, 2012, I underwent a stem cell transplant and have been in remission for Hodgkin's Lymphoma ever since.
On May 10, 2022, I was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer (DCIS) at 34 years old. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast and underwent two and a half weeks of radiation therapy. I am now on hormonal medication for five years, and thankfully, everything is in remission.
I have faced immense challenges since a young age, but these experiences made me realize that I had resilience within me, despite it all, I am proud to say I am a survivor, strengthened by every obstacle I've overcame.
